From the vaults they came

An archive of my photography, mostly editorial and record company commissions dating from 1999 to the present.

Canadian pomp rocker Ryan Corrigan, aka Hawksley Workman, shot for BANG magazine in Montreal.  He’s big in France you know.  Beautiful city, nice people, great weather, apart from the one afternoon we’re supposed to shoot outdoors and it pours with rain, typical.

Bloc Party shot for The Saturday Times magazine in Liverpool.  They were playing the NME new bands tour and were bottom of the bill.  I think the other 4 bands were The Kaizer Chiefs, The Futureheads and The Killers headlining.  This shot is my homage to Gered Mankowitz’s famous shot of The Rolling Stones behind a mesh.

Chief Waterboy and creator of ‘The Big Music’ Mike Scott, press photos taken in west London about 10 years ago.  He only told me afterwards that he has a fear of spiders and was a bit apprehensive of getting too close one in the foliage!  What a trooper.

English psyche oddball and former Soft Boy, Robyn Hitchcock, shot for Word magazine in the garden of his west London house.  When I saw his shirt I knew exactly the shot I wanted to get and this was it.  Great subject and a really smart and cool guy.

Fran Healy, lead singer of Scot-rockers Travis.  Predictably, a lovely man.  Shot in a London hotel corridor for SNOOZER magazine.

Nu-metal Armenian-American nutters System Of A Down for Q magazine.  Shot in a car park outside the venue in Austin, Texas.  Obviously the was not the original concept for the shoot but the band were not impressed by the art director’s ideas so I had to think on my feet.  One of this band described himself as a ‘poet’.

Primal Scream main man Bobby Gillespie in an underground car park beneath the old Sony records office Soho, oh the glamour.  Shot for the cover of SNOOZER.

Author and historian Anthony Beevor shot for Word magazine in London, I still haven’t read his definitive book on the battle of Stalingrad, it’s not exactly ‘lite’ reading.

Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim, for the cover of  SNOOZER magazine in Ibiza years back, it was so hot, poor old Norman was melting, who arranges for a photo-shoot in Ibiza in August around mid afternoon?!
